Allow me to reintroduce myself

Hiiiii there!!

I am so thrilled you are here. If we haven't had the chance to meet, I'm Nomi.

I have been running my boudoir photography studio full-time in Brooklyn, NY since 2016.  I found boudoir photography at a time when I was working in fashion and commercial photography. I felt unaligned with the photos my work was promoting and boudoir photography helped me express what I truly believe.

Since then, I have photographed more than 900 women who come to me with the hope of feeling better about themselves and left feeling stronger in their femininity than ever before. Starting a business like this wasn’t easy, boudoir photography was not as widely accepted as it is today. I started the business on credit cards (will dive into that at another time 😉), and now run a multiple six-figure photo studio that focuses solely on creating photos to help you feel GOOD.

I am proud to share my understanding of connection with the body and empowerment through my children's book,
"I Love My Body Because," co-authored with Shelly Anand, and published by @simonandschuster in June 2022.

I live in Montego Bay, Jamaica with my husband (he is a 9th-generation Jamaican Jew) and I travel back to NYC for boudoir sessions approximately every six weeks. I come to this work as the daughter of two Reform rabbis who instilled in me a sense of tikkun olam, a desire to repair the world. Also, my Great-Grandmother ran
The Town Shop in New York City until the age of 95, so working with sexy topics is in my DNA. ;)

I am grateful to co-create with you, and together, create new worlds of women’s empowerment!

Lots of loveeeee
xoxo,
Nomi

You may have noticed…

You may have noticed, sometimes I post on my blog and Instgram, and sometime I take a break.

I’m a solopreneur, photographer, and an artist.

I’m a wife, a sister, a daughter, an aunt, a cousin, a friend, a woman, a human being. A spirit in a body, and a body with a spirit.

And I’m passionate about the photography I do and the message I want to put out there in the world.

I’m not a perfectionist, but I try to be thoughtful, because the variety of topics my work touches is triggering.

When I’m in NYC, I get immersed in my photo sessions and clients. As I take each photo, there are so many anecdotes and thoughts to share with you here on social media, but I often end up just being present. That’s my job and why clients choose me. I love what I do.

When I get home to Jamaica, I am still adjusting to my new life, in a new culture, with a new family, and a new community. I love it and am in process of creating a new sense of home. And being in partnership is also new to me, I definitely lived a lot of my 20s/early 30s both single and in a variety of relationships. Making choices and then integrating your newfound sense of self is a process.

And it’s imperfectly perfect. And after seven years of doing boudoir photography full-time, I trust it’s evolving in divine alignment and timing.

Am back in NYC towards the end of September and beginning of October for boudoir. Reach out if you want to work with me to create art one-on-one

And there are some new offerings on the horizon, an opportunity to learn and workshop with me, no matter where you are in the world. I’m ready to grow together, and be a part of creating new worlds of womanhood.

Appreciate you and the ride. The destination is not the goal, I’m focusing on loving the journey. Will you join me?

From Vulnerability to Empowerment - How Inclusivity Transforms Boudoir Photography

When clients come to me for a boudoir photoshoot, my role is to promote a positive, comfortable environment where they feel empowered in their own skin. Arguably the most special aspect of a boudoir shoot is the appreciation a client feels for the body they have at that given moment. As we grow and age, our bodies are constantly evolving into new, equally gorgeous shapes. As a New York boudoir photographer, I strongly believe that every person deserves to feel beautiful, confident, and empowered, regardless of their body type or appearance. This is one of the many reasons why inclusivity is a cornerstone of my work. When clients work with me, they can feel confident in both who they are and who they’ve chosen to trust with this one-of-a-kind experience.

What is Inclusivity in Boudoir?

To put it simply, inclusivity in the boudoir space means that every single person that I shoot with, regardless of their race, gender, age, body type, or sexual orientation, is welcome and celebrated. To me, it means that every client is seen and treated as an individual with their own unique needs and desires when it comes to their photoshoot experience. Every person's beauty is valued and appreciated, regardless of whether it fits into conventional beauty standards.

Why is Inclusivity So Important in Boudoir Photography?

The answer is really simple: because it allows everyone to experience the transformative power of boudoir photography. Boudoir photography is not just about taking sexy photos, though many people might believe this to be true at first glance. This immersive art form is about celebrating your body, who you are, and the special journey that you’re on. It's about seeing yourself in a new light and rediscovering your confidence and self-love, which many of us tend to lose sight of along the way. My goal is to give everyone the opportunity to experience this transformation and to feel incredible while doing it.

My Personal Approach

I listen to what my clients have to say.

I want to understand their needs, desires, and concerns so that their photoshoot comes across as an expression of their truest self. By listening to my clients, I can tailor our shoot to their individual needs and ensure that their innermost boudoir dreams are brought to fruition.

I create a safe space for my clients.

Boudoir photography can be a vulnerable experience for some, and I want my clients to feel comfortable and secure every step of the way. I do this by maintaining a professional attitude, maintaining the highest level of privacy and confidentiality, and by being open and non-judgmental at all times.

I believe that inclusivity is an ongoing process.

Constant education is so important when it comes to being a truly inclusive photographer. Educating myself on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion is a never ending mission. I listen to feedback from my clients and colleagues, and I strive to improve my approach. I believe that by continuously learning and growing, I can create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all my clients and leave them feeling inspired and excited about their photos.

Every person deserves to feel beautiful, confident, and empowered, regardless of their background or identity. If you are looking for a boudoir photographer in NYC who deeply values inclusivity, please reach out to chat about how we can create a stunning piece of art dedicated to celebrating you. Taurus Tuesday

Hi there lady!

Hope you are well and feeling the wonderful energy of this Taurus season! Fun fact, I am a Taurus (my 35th birthday is coming up on May 13th!) and I would love to help you navigate those spring vibes of renewal.

I was reading a blog in Yoga Journal and wanted to share this excerpt: "Taurus season is about indulging in the richness of life, prioritizing pleasure over anything, and finding balance and stability in all aspects of life. Whether you’re a Taurus or not, its influences are undeniably having an effect on you. How you choose to utilize it, however, is up to you."

My life's journey has taken me from daily NYC life, to finding new balance and stability in my new home of Montego Bay, Jamaica (check out Spencer and me sailing and at a wedding below!). I resonate with choosing my own desires as guiding posts. This time of my life reminds me of when I began Boudoir by Nomi in 2016, I let my intuition guide me, and allow the trust to build towards a larger plan.

Some of the practical day-to-day activities that ground me in Taurus season include meditation, getting outside and appreciating nature, moving my body (I just started weight training), eating fresh food when I can, and writing 10 things I'm grateful for (almost) daily.

I have seen how uplifting a boudoir session can be for so many of the ladies who have come through my studio and now some of the locations that I absolutely love to shoot in Jamaica. While I am looking forward to being back in NYC from mid-May to mid-June, I am also very excited to be offering boudoir sessions to the ladies who have felt called to fly down and some tourists that have learned of my services while on vacation.

I used to love being able to do last-minute shoots and I still do, though my life has now shifted to a place where I am planning and booking out months in advance. I am SO grateful for the journey that I am on and look forward to making it all work seamlessly. For the time being though, if you are thinking about booking a holiday/special birthday/anniversary shoot, please reach out well in advance so I can ensure the best opportunity to make it happen.

Looking forward to connecting soon and hope you have a fabulous Taurus Season.

Lots of love,
Nomi
