I love my body because

All bodies are miracles. They take us where we want to go, either physically or in our imaginations. They let us express ourselves and how we feel about the people we care about. They hold brilliant minds that are capable of anything and kind hearts that lead us to be the best that we can be. And just as every body is different, every body is beautiful, no matter their size, shape, color, or ability. After all, every body holds a unique and special person within it, and that makes each one miraculous and marvelous.

I really wish we had this when we were growing up, but it makes me feel so good to know we’ll be able to read it to our kiddos for years to come. And soon enough, they’ll be reading it to us - it’s so easy to follow, and the illustrations are beautiful and inclusive. Thank you for such an important children's book!

Gah! I love everything about this book. SO important to read to young children who are shown to already have shame and insecurities around body image and differences etc. This book is so gentle and the illustrations feature so many different types of people and abilities. Such a beautiful message and encouragement to all kids, even I, as a grown-up, felt so special reading this aloud. Highly recommend it for any home or classroom library.

Such a beautiful way to help our kids remember their bodies are beautiful just the way they are. The bright and beautiful illustrations showcase people of all shapes, sizes, colors, abilities, and faiths. The language is simple enough yet effective for all ages and flows so wonderfully. Will be doing a unit with my students next year using this book!

This book is written with such care. My one-year-old finds it totally lyrical and absorbing, and the 7-year olds I teach are quoting parts of the book and using the writing as a jumping-off point to talk positively about their own bodies! The illustrations are gorgeous, and every kid I've shown it to totally loves it! I also love it as an adult… a good reminder for us all. The authors and illustrators did a fabulous job with this book.

Hi There! I’m Nomi!

Growing up in a household where my parents were rabbis, the emphasis was always on internal qualities rather than external appearances. As I grew up and had more exposure to the outside world, I became keenly aware of the societal disparity in the value placed on outward looks. This awareness intensified during my time as a fashion photographer, where I witnessed a disproportionate focus on external aesthetics. It became evident that a crucial conversation about self-care and pride in our external and internal selves was getting lost.

This realization, coupled with my experiences as a boudoir photographer, inspired me to write "I Love My Body Because." The book serves as a platform to redefine the dialogue around body image, introducing a positive vocabulary that celebrates the incredible gift our bodies are. Its goal is to create neural pathways for children, enabling them to develop healthy relationships with their bodies. In coaching sessions with clients and personal reflections, I discovered the deep-seated negative body image thoughts ingrained in us from a young age. Through meaningful conversations and celebrating our body's incredible capabilities, my work seeks to reprogram these thoughts. "I Love My Body Because" is not just a book; it's a vessel for cultivating ongoing discussions about body positivity and self-love, extending far beyond its pages.
